Learning

The first steps on any journey can be a bit scary, and starting Primary School can be a big step for both little ones and grown-ups. Pre-Kindergarten marks most children’s very first step into formal schooling, this can be an exciting and nerve-wracking time for children and parents alike.

Most learning will be introduced through a mixture of carefully planned play and some adult-led focused activities. Children and teenagers learn by observing, listening, exploring, experimenting and asking questions.

Children face a future in which online courses will probably be part of the curriculum. At Kingdom Kids Preparatory, we use Microsoft Teams as the online platform of choice to deliver school content and interact with our students online.

Though there has been a recent focus on literacy and numeracy at the Grade Four level, the literacy and numeracy journey actually begins much earlier. From birth through the early years, children gradually develop early literacy and numeracy skills, which include knowledge of how to hold books right and turn pages, to listen when read to, to recognize books by their covers, distinguish between pictures and print, count from one to one hundred, understand basic fundamental arithmetical skills such as addition and subtraction.

The opportunity to develop these skills are significant and at Kingdom Kids Pre School and Kindergarten we place special interest on early literacy and numeracy skills.

In the Classroom

Our aim is geared towards the holistic development of the child to meet the changing needs of society.

We use an integrated approach to learning, which enables our students to understand the relevance of what they learn in the classroom to their everyday lives. Our teachers are encouraged to go beyond the whiteboard to teach from an hands-on and child centered viewpoint.

Primary Education must lay the foundation for life-long learning, as well as help pupils develop positive attitudes and values and the coping skills necessary for survival in an increasingly complex world. The MOE curriculum provides opportunities for their development through strategies such as co-operative learning, group and project work, which encourage pupils to explore and share ideas as they identify and solve problems.

Emphasis is placed on monitoring and measuring our students success.  Lessons are carefully planned and our teachers evaluate their lessons and note if the objectives have been met. Monthly exams as well as Mid-terms exams are used to track our students progress their areas of strength as well as weaknesses, these results are submitted to the principal to give a picture of what is happening in the classroom.  Parents are kept up to date with their child/children's progress through consultations with their teachers.
